Site: South Building Warley Hospital, Brentwood   Worked: 2011

This beautiful building has some of the most exquisit brickwork features set within a lovely setting on the old Warley Hospital site in Brentwood.

The construction of this block was a traditional method with the masonry cavity wall, this consisted of faced brickwork laid in a flemish bond and pointed with a flush joint, the mortar was a lime mix with tranches of soft and sharp sand careful gauged to create the look required. The brickwork includes inset contrasting brick diamond motifs to all elevations, cant bricks to all window and door reveals, plinth stretcher details and a squinted turret.

These challenging brickwork features have really made this building fit the vintage buildings which surround it.
